Frozen Appetite

In one of life's ironies, Spot and Buddy get along fine in the snow, while the artist who draws them is less well suited.

I like falling snow under a handful of circumstances -- Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Christmas movies -- but as a paunched 44 going on 45, the forecaster's breathless news that we'll see 20-30 inches of snow by Sunday's end doesn't cheer me.

On a side note: Mary just dropped several ice cubes on the kitchen floor (detouring from a glass of soda) and our dog, Cuddles, snatched them up with insane glee. Once again I contemplate my old fantasy of reducing the food bill by feeding Cuddles frozen water. But an improvement on that vision suggests itself: could Cuddles be trained to find snow just as savory? And is her appetite large enough to encompass the driveway? Or at least the front steps.

Music Of The Night

I used to live with a small pond in the yard, and during the spring the sound of singing frogs was like a broken down bus of xylophone players, passing the time with a million whacks. Which is why I sympathize with this story.
