Bullfrog as Bully

If you own sturdy shoes and you live in Oregon, here's your chance to puzzle out why the bullfrog is displacing the yellow-legged frog. My first guess is that bullfrog springs from the tongue more easily.

The Silence of a Moving Pen

Sorry about the occasional lapses in posting. I usually find myself busiest with the strip Monday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday if I got off to a slow start. I try to have a week of Spot dailies finished by...well, today, but I'm behind schedule. With luck I'll finish them tonight, which leaves Thursday and Friday for working on the Sunday (which has the ironic twang of a country western song, I think.)

My thanks to those who might have contacted the Rock Hill paper. They've added Spot to their comics page.

Michigan J. Toad

"In 1897, a horned toad was placed in the cornerstone of the courthouse in Eastland, TX, as it was being sealed. People remembered the event, but no one thought much of it until 1928, when the courthouse was demolished to make way for a new, Jazz Age model. Three thousand people were on hand to watch the opening of the old cornerstone. Inside lay the horned toad, all right -- flat and covered with dust -- and ALIVE! After 31 years!"

The toad didn't leap up and sing -- because of the audience, no doubt -- but it eventually inspired another performance.
